MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - It's not what you would expect to see in a ritzy neighborhood - a house full of furniture out on the lawn, its owner the victim of an eviction.
"I'm just trying to deal with it the best I can," said William Ling, the now former resident of the home.
Ling lived in the house with his wife for 25 years.
"My mother's house," he said. "I bought it from her."
Ling said he simply got behind on his mortgage payments, and even though Independent Bank worked with him, he just couldn't pull it out. So, early Friday morning, the bank started moving his furniture out.
"My business closed up since the first of the year and my wife had to get work," he said. "I've been trying to find something off and on. Nothing has panned out."
Ironically Ling knows how this all works. He is a real estate attorney, and has supervised evictions.
"I foresaw it and I just tried to work as best I could with the bank," he said. "They bent over backwards to help me."
Ling said he was fortunate his neighbors helped him move his furniture and other belongings to a storage area.
"I knew it was coming sooner or later," he said. "I just tried to work as fast as I could."
