Up to 6 inches of snow expected in Ark., Okla.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued winter storm watches for parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma this Christmas.

Forecasters say parts of the region are expected to see up to 6 inches of snow.

The weather service office in Norman, Okla., says a winter storm watch will be in effect from late Monday through Tuesday evening for parts of Oklahoma, including El Reno, Oklahoma City and Ponca City.

Forecasters say snow is expected to start falling in those areas between midnight and 9 a.m. Tuesday. The snow will be heaviest during the daytime hours before tapering off to flurries Tuesday even as the storm trudges eastward.

A winter storm watch will be in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening in parts of Arkansas, including Russellville, Harrison and Mena.
