(WMC-TV) - Angela Brewer originally told deputies she shot and killed her husband after she thought she heard an intruder outside.
Monday her story completely changed.
In a warrant filed late Monday afternoon, the 43-year-old woman admitted to loading a shotgun then shooting and killing her husband, 37-year-old William "Stan" Brewer.
The shooting happened early Sunday morning inside their Brighton home.
"We're continuing to work with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in the weekend shooting on Highway 14," said Tipton County Sheriff's Office Chief Donna Turner.
Brewer was originally charged with reckless homicide and aggravated assault resulting in death. But after being questioned, those charges have now been upgraded to second degree murder.
In the warrant, Brewer admitted to pointing the gun at her husband's head at close range while he slept.
The warrant also says Brewer then admitted to discharging the weapon.
Deputies are not yet saying why this happened.
"She doesn't have a criminal history with us ... Nor does he," adds Chief Turner.
The Brewer's two children were inside when the shooting happened.
Neighbors say Stan Brewer kept guns in their house because he was an avid hunter.
Angela Brewer is being in the Tipton County jail without bond. She will face a judge for arraignment first thing Tuesday morning.
