(WMC-TV) - Three men appeared in court Monday on murder-related charges after investigators found a man dead in a blood-covered basement in the Coro Lakes area.
Jonathan Bolden, Mark Whitely and Ryan Winston all face first-degree murder charges for the death of 26-year-old Tyler Gurien. Although, last week did not mark Winston's first murder arrest.
The then 16-year-old was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in 2009.
According to the Commercial Appeal, Winston was one of three people charged in the death of Rozelle Green Jr., who was shot hours after a fight at Hamilton High School that involved around 150 students.
The charges against Winson were later reduced to accessory after the fact.
Four years later and Winston finds himself involved in another shooting. Investigators say the case is just the beginning against Winston and his two alleged accomplices.
Those who live in the Coro Lake community, where Gurien lived, are wonder why he was targeted.
"He didn't go places. He didn't hang out with nobody. Just something happened that he wasn't aware of, and I wasn't aware of, and just got caught up in something that we didn't have no control over," said neighbor Adam Mitchell.
According to the affidavit of complaint, the three suspects planned to rob the victim when they arrived at the house; one of the three pulled out a shotgun and shot him.
Neighbors say Gurien was in the process of getting his life back in order after trouble with the law in 2007 and 2009.
Bolden will be in court again January 6. No word on when the other two suspects will make their next appearance.
