178 pounds of marijuana, 148 potted marijuana plants found in Raleigh home
(WMC) – Three men are locked up on a $3 million bond after police say they found a fortune's worth of marijuana inside their house.
A neighbor living on Plymouth Avenue said he watched as his quiet street was turned upside down.
"I be sitting out here in the garage drinking my beer every day, just cooling out," said the neighbor who asked not to be identified. "I thought they had moved a police precinct in where so many cars was up and down the street."
His neighbors, Yosvani Gonzalez, Fermin Fortun Monteagudo, and Gil Rodriquez, are all locked up and charged with having 178 pounds of loose marijuana and 148 potted marijuana plants.
"And I mean, those pots was about this tall and I don't know how big round," said the neighbor. "Man, they drug that stuff out of here, took two officers to pull it out of the pot, one to hold the pot. They got that ax, cut it off at the roots and they filled up two pickup trucks."
In addition to some loose leaves and spilled potting soil, there is a lot of disbelief left behind on Plymouth Avenue.
"I've been living in Raleigh 29 years, and I ain't never in my life seen nothing like this," said the neighbor.
All three men are also charged with stealing utilities to power the house. They are due in court Monday morning.
