MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A woman was shot near Essex Avenue and Cameron Street.
Memphis police say she was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.
Our crew on the scene reports that there are two crime scenes. One at Essex Avenue and Cameron Street; the other at Essex Avenue and Shadowlawn Boulevard.
Witnesses tell us the whole thing started at a convenience store on Lauderdale Street.
That's where the first shots were fired at an SUV with a woman driving and a child inside.
She drove off with another car following and shooting at her.
She wrecked a couple blocks away and ran to the intersection of Essex and Cameron.
Police say she's been taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. There's no word on the child's condition.
People living nearby say this type of violence has got to stop.
"This need to stop. You need to tell every man out here that's in a gang or whatever, I don't even care. It needs to stop. Tired of it. I got kids. And I'm just tired of sitting up here watching this stuff that goes on. Everyday on the news there's always somebody killing somebody or somebody doing this, somebody doing that, it needs to stop."
Two other men in another truck followed after the car that was shooting at the SUV.
Their pick-up truck has a bullet hole in the windshield, but both of them are fine.
Police say they are still searching for the shooter.
