Woman arrested for wielding bat after car accident

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A woman was arrested for reportedly attacking a father and daughter during a confrontation following a car accident.

Ashley Lee, 18, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault following an altercation on December 13.

According to the police affidavit, Lee and her friends were involved in a car accident. After the accident the report says Lee and her friends confronted the occupants of the other car, wielding a bat. Later, Lee reportedly slapped a phone out of a woman's hands.

Friends of Lee say this is not true.

"I thought he was going to hurt me, because of how he came charging at me," says Lee's friend Shuntay Howard.

Howard says she was with Lee at the time of the altercation.

She says the driver of the other car was violent and confronted them.

"Got out calling people all type of B's and H's, and how he is going to stop us because he is a pimp," says Howard.

Howard says her friend Ashley Lee never had the bat, but she was the one with the bat.

"I had to grab the bat. Ashley didn't have the bat, I had the bat," says Howard.

Howard says her and her friends were scared and acted out of instinct to grab something to protect themselves with.
