MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Grizzlies team members and fans alike are disappointed that starting point guard Mike Conley will miss Game 4 in Portland Monday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies confirm Conley had surgery Monday morning.
Conley was elbowed in the face during Game 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Now, the big questions are if and when Mike Conley will return to the NBA playoff games.
"I think Mike Conley is great as a starter and we need for him to continue to put up shots and put up points, especially the three-pointers that he's been hitting," said Grizzlies fan Jonathan Davis.
Conley is back in Memphis and is recovering from his facial surgery. WMC Action News 5 asked a plastic surgery expert whether Conley's injuries would threaten his ability to play.
Langsdon is not Conley's doctor and hasn't seen his x-rays.
"From the video of the injury, it looks like he had a typical cheek bone eye socket fracture," said Langsdon.
Conley's recovery process may just depend on the severity of his fracture.
"If it's just a crack in the bone, it may be that he doesn't require a lot," Langsdon added. "If he's very displaced, then it may require some recovery."
The Grizzlies are not saying much about Conley's recovery, but fans are hoping that everything goes smoothly.
"We need Mike Conley," said Davis. "We need Mike Conley."
