MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police have arrested a man they say raped a teenager behind Vollintine Elementary School.
Police say Marvin Bruce approached the victim on Evergreen Road and asked him if he wanted to buy a cell phone.
After the victim declined, Bruce robbed him with a knife, police say.
A report says he then took him behind the school and raped him.
The victim immediately called 911 and police caught Bruce walking near the school.
"I think everyone should be aware of their surroundings this day and time, said neighbor Malcolm Howze. "I mean, just being aware of your surroundings means that we don't, we watch out for each other. We have young people around here we've got to help make a future for. We got to watch out for them, make sure things like this don't happen."
Bruce is in jail for aggravated kidnapping, rape and robbery.
