MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - People living in Tillman Cove Apartments in Binghampton have been told they have just two weeks to leave.
A notice put on residents' doors told them the complex is shutting down.
"My thing is, they didn't give us notice--we just got this today sir," Charlene Davis said. "Where are people going to go? We done paid our rent."
Residents said two notices were left on their doors, both stating the same thing: Tillman Cove is closing and tenants need to vacate by February 1.
"I guess (they are) just putting everybody out, with short notices," Tammy Shaw said.
Shaw's family has lived at the apartments for years. She said the conditions are deplorable, but it is still home.
"I hope they can at least give us longer than two weeks," Shaw said. "And give us some vouchers or some kind of assistance instead of putting us out on the street."
Tillman Cove is managed by Lauren & Hope. No one answered the office phone or answered the door at the apartment complex where residents said an employee lives Monday.
"I really just think they need to be fair about us, not about them," Ricky McNary said.
Many residents said they have nowhere to go.
"Where are we supposed to go in two weeks? Give us time to find something first," Davis said.
There have been dozens of court cases involving Tillman Cove in the past, but the complex recently changed owners.
