MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Two bodies were found left inside a now-closed funeral home, and families are still feeling the effects of their loved ones being found inside.
"It's sad; it's just sad," the goddaughter of Kathryn Hill, one of the women found inside the funeral home, said. "I found out he just left her abandoned at the funeral home. That's terrible. And all I have to say to him is 'why?' You could've told me that you couldn't handle it and I could get another funeral home to pick up my mom's body."
She said Hill died on January 19, but her body was discovered this week.
The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance discovered that there was no licensed personnel and no electricity in the building.
"It was right at $3,300, so we had my mama's funeral February the 13, and I was instructed by Terry MaGee that she would be cremated the following week."
Terry McGee has not responded to any requests to contact him.
"The last time I spoke with him was March 14 of this year," Hill's goddaughter said. "He had texted my phone. I believed it was that money and he instructed that I call his phone."
Hill's goddaughter wants this to be a precautionary tale for others.
"When you pick out a funeral home, I suggest you do a thorough investigation of who you use."
