MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A DUI driver with four previous DUI convictions and no driver's license was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing a motorcyclist.
According to Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich, 43-year-old Christoper Franklin pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide in the 2014 death of 59-year-old Thomas Holloway Jr. of Horn Lake, Mississippi.
In September 2014, Franklin ran through a red light at the intersection of Shelby Drive and Swinnea Road, crashing into Holloway as he made a left turn.
Holloway was critically injured in the accident and died nine hours later in the hospital. A passenger in Franklin's car suffered minor injuries.
After the accident, police said Franklin's blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.169. That is more than twice the legal limit in Tennessee.
