Possible serial rapist strikes again

Possible serial rapist strikes again

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department is searching for a man thought to be a serial rapist.

Investigators believe the man may be responsible for a string of sexual assaults at several Memphis apartment complexes.

On April 10 near 4 a.m., a woman told police a man broke into her apartment in the Madison at Cypress Lake Apartments and sexually assaulted her. She told police he threatened her with a gun. She described him as a black male in his 20s with white shoes, blue jeans, and a white shirt.

On January 3 around 10:30 p.m., a woman told police a man broke into her apartment in the Arbors of Hickory Ridge Apartments. The man threatened her with a gun before robbing and sexually assaulting her.

Police said the crimes are similar to a few others that happened in 2015 at other Memphis apartment complexes. In total, there are eight attacks they believe may be connected.

The man has not been seen with a vehicle at any of the crime scenes. Nobody has been able to record video of him either.

In every attack, the victim said the man was wearing a mask.

"It makes me feel sad, and unsafe," said one resident of the Madison at Cypress Lakes Apartments. "As for the gate and security, it needs to be upped."

Though investigators are not certain the same man is responsible for all of the attacks, the similarities lead them to believe one man could be responsible for every attack.

If you have any information regarding these attacks, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
