MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Coca-Cola driver who shot a man accused of stealing from his delivery truck will not be charged.
The delivery driver was inside the Family Dollar at 831 Thomas Street on Saturday when two men began stealing drinks from his truck.
Police said the men were moving the drinks from the truck into their own trunk.
When the delivery driver came back outside, the two men ran away. Shortly thereafter, 19-year-old Dashun Dye returned for his vehicle, approached the delivery driver aggressively, and threatened him.
The driver pulled out a gun and shot Dye.
"My brother did not deserve to get shot eight times," Dye's sister, Monitra Cage, said.
After reviewing the evidence from the crime scene, the District Attorney General's Office decided it would not file criminal charges against the delivery driver.
Dye did not have a criminal record. He was arrested once, but those charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence.
