MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A former Shelby County employee is in jail after police said he raped a woman.
According to police, a woman told officers Michael Henneghan raped her in an apartment in the 6900 block of Stone Ridge Drive on June 8.
The victim told police a man she knew at "James," invited her into to the apartment. Police later identified "James" as Henneghan.
The victim said Henneghan gave her his phone number and sent her three pictures of himself, one in which he was wearing a Shelby County government badge.
Later, the victim said Henneghan began making comments that made her feel uncomfortable.
When the victim tried to leave, Henneghan forced her into a bedroom and raped her, according to police. The victim was then allowed to leave.
The victim went to police and positively identified Henneghan as the man who raped her.
Henneghan is charged with raped. He is expected to face a judge Wednesday.
