MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department released video that shows a person dragging a 95-year-old woman during a robbery.
The robbery happened before 10 a.m. on Monday.
The victim was walking into Oak Court Mall when the suspect walked up beside her, grabbed her purse, and dragged her for about 7 feet.
The suspect jumped into a dark Chevrolet HHR after taking the woman's purse.
"Oh my God! That's real sad," Tiara Moore said after seeing the video.
That's bad," Brooke Barretta said. "Living in Memphis, you learn to look over your shoulder and look at your surroundings."
But even that good advice likely wouldn't have saved the woman. Police said she hit her head when she was dragged, leaving a trail of blood from the door to the parking lot.
"It's very shocking to be honest. What if it could be your own family member? So, it's heartbreaking to see that," Jacqueline Jones said.
The victim was taken to Methodist Germantown in non-critical condition.
The suspect is thought to be 25-30 years old, 6'1'' with a long pony tail, wearing blue skinny jeans and a tan shirt. Memphis Police Department said the suspect was a man, but the official affidavit said the suspect was a woman with the same description. MPD has not been able to confirm which description is correct.
If you have any idea who the suspect is call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
