MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Memphis mother is looking for the gunmen responsible for shooting her 18-year-old daughter, and leaving her 2-year-old granddaughter without a mother.

Debbie Golden lost her daughter, Marnesha Scales, 18, after gunmen opened fire on the car Scales was in.

Investigators said Scales was behind the wheel of a car on Arbor Lake Drive when two gunmen approached. She reportedly tried to pull off when the gunmen opened fire. We are told two other people were in the car with her, but she was the only one who got hit.

"I never thought it would hit home with me," Golden said.

So far, police have not made an arrest in the case.

Golden and Marnesha's godmother Adrian Hall are both determined to find the people responsible. The family has started a GoFundMe page in hopes of generating money to help generate leads. The money will go toward a reward for information leading to an arrest.

"This is not something that any mother should have to endure," Hall said.

"It's hard at night when you have to go to sleep and she is not here and then it is been harder knowing the person who did it is out there somewhere," Golden said.

The GoFundMe page established by Golden is the official page set up by the family. There is another page on the site established by a Kevin Scales the family says is fraudulent.
