GERMANTOWN, TN (WMC) - Vandals have caused thousands of dollars in damage in Germantown.

Investigators think the several businesses hit with spray paint are no coincidence.

In each instance, the vandal struck once the business was closed for the night.

Business owners reported finding the initials "W-E-B" and the word "JINX" painted on both the inside and outside of their buildings.

Most of the markings were washed away with a power washer, but some remains on the side of Cadence Bank on Farmington Road—the first target.

Reports of tagging started at the beginning of the month.

The vandals have hit businesses near the intersection of Farmington and Exeter Road, and Poplar Avenue and Exeter.

One of the most damaging instances happened inside a strip mall off Poplar. The damage included the stairwell, men's bathroom and elevator.

The building owner told police he estimated the damage to be about $10,000.

So far, police have no suspect information.
