Memphis Animal Services holds volunteer orientation

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - If you love animals and want to make a difference in our city, Memphis Animal Services has an event that's perfect for you.

MAS will host a volunteer orientation on Saturday, January 21 at 10 a.m. at the shelter at 2350 Appling City Cove.

MAS offers several volunteer opportunities, and the first step to becoming a volunteer for MAS is to attend the orientation, which is facilitated on the third Saturday of each month by the Friends of the Memphis Animal Shelter. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Currently, MAS is particularly interested in recruiting volunteers to help with photography of the available pets to make them appealing to adopters. The program requires both skilled photographers and people who can perform the data entry of uploading the photos into MAS's database.

The volunteer orientation will last about an hour, and then anyone interested in participating specifically in the photography program can stay for the second part of the session, which is only for the photography effort.  Photography volunteers are required to attend both parts of the orientation.

For more information, visit, call 901-636-1416, or visit the shelter.
