MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department is investigating a stabbing death in the Westwood neighborhood.
Police said the man was stabbed at a home on Maumee Street, which is near the intersection of West Raines Road and Double Tree Road, around 3:10 p.m.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but later died.
Family confirmed the victim as Torey Taylor.
"My first-born...he won't suffer no more," Taylor's father Andrew Gillard said.
Family said it was Taylor's fiancee, Destiny White, who stabbed him. The incident happened while Taylor's 14-year-old daughter watched.
"He was a good guy, and I have nothing bad to say about him," Candace Davis said.
Friends said Taylor was a security guard at local businesses and a deacon at church.
"Violence within our city has to be stopped," Gillard said.
Gillard said violence is not only tearing the city apart, but tearing families apart too.
"I turned my life over to the Lord," he said. "Come on people, that is what you have to do."
White is charged with second-degree murder.
