OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC) - Neighbors in Olive Branch are waiting for answers after a gruesome discovery near a community lake.
Friday, police found a man's body at the edge of the water off Lancaster Drive.
It's all anyone's talking about in this subdivision after a jogger reportedly spotted something in the lake and called 911
"Everyone's still asking questions," said neighbor Marquita Valadez. "No one knows the ID of the gentleman."
For Marquita and her family, Friday was no ordinary day in the Lexington Crossing subdivision off Hacks Cross near Highway 78.
Olive Branch police pulled a man's body out of the lake behind their house.
OBP Investigators say the body was badly decomposed, and the victim's identity and cause of death are unknown, leaving Marquita and her neighbors with a lot of unanswered questions.
"It's a little unnerving, just because, you know, we picked this area because it's really quiet," Marquita said. "It's a great place to raise your family. Just hearing something happened literally feet away from our house is a little scary."
The DeSoto County Coroner's Office sent the body to the Mississippi Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identification.
