MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis wrestling manager Nate 'the Rat' Whitlock has passed away.
Whitlock was a longtime presence in Memphis wrestling. He managed Jerry Lawler and many more.
He was also a musician and a cab driver.
WMC Action News 5 Chief Meteorologist Emeritus Dave Brown said Whitlock had a knack for paying the heel--or bad guy in wrestling--which Dave Brown said was interesting because it was far away from Whitlock's actual personality.
"He really played the role well. I liked being around him," Brown said. "He was just a nice guy. Anything that was asked of him, he was willing to do."
Whitlock died Friday. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been released.
"He's one of those people you remember," Brown said. "Nate will definitely be remembered, no doubt about that. He did it well."
