MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The University of Memphis has officially named the new public address announcer for football.

Louis Brownlee--public information officer for Memphis Police Department--will be the new voice of Memphis Tigers football at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

"It's a great feeling, and I'm just super excited about it," Brownlee said.

Brownlee has experience announcing for his alma mater at Hamilton High School during the basketball season.

He sent in an audition tape for the open Memphis public address job and got an email this week telling him he got the job.

"It's like, 'oh my god.' Just excitement, I was just overwhelmed," Brownlee said. "Never in a million years would I have thought that a little boy from South Memphis would have this opportunity to be the voice of Memphis football. That's huge."

Brownlee said he's already started practicing player's names.

Come September 1, you'll be hearing the genuine excitement of a Tiger faithful during another exciting season.
