MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A police officer suffered non-critical injuries after he was run over by the sport utility vehicle of a man he was questioning on suspicion of drugs, police said Wednesday.
The officer, who was not identified, approached the suspect Tuesday night in the parking lot of a convenience store in Memphis.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Lasaidric Hart, 27, accelerated and pushed the officer 40 feet before running him over and driving away.
The officer's partner fired several shots at the vehicle. The officer who was run over was treated at a hospital and released. His partner is on administrative leave pending a routine investigation of the shooting.
Hart is wanted on a warrant for attempted second-degree murder.
